Early Life
Ruger was born on 23rd September 1999 in Lagos. He hails from the Yoruba tribe of Nigeria.
Education
He studied both primary and secondary school levels in Lagos.
He is currently furthering his studies at a university in South West Nigeria.
Musical Career
Ruger developed an interest in music as a young teenage boy. During his school life, he was a member of his school music band and also a member of the church choir.
He composed songs and would perform them at his school’s events and local shows in Lagos.
D’Prince discovered him and gave him the name “Ruger”.
In 2020, with the help of D’Prince, he was signed to Jonzing World with a publishing and distribution deal with Columbia Records, and Sony Music Entertainment, the U.K. division.
He was introduced to the public by D’Prince, following the release of “One Shirt”, with Rema
On 19th February 2021, D’Prince released Ruger’s first Ep debut single titled ‘Pandemic.‘ The song received major airplay and had over 55 million views.
On 19 November 2021, he released his second single entitled ‘The Second Wave‘, which was produced by Kukbeatz. The song became the number one pick in most African countries.
In 2021, he was nominated as the Best Newcomer, Best Artiste, Duo or Group in African Reggae, Ragga or Dancehall, and Most Promising African Artiste of the year by AFRIMA awards.
The same year, African Entertainment Awards USA(AEAUSA) Nominated Ruger as the Best New Artist and Best Reggae or Dancehall Act of the year.

In March same year, he was named a brand ambassador for Tiger Beer.
17 June 2022, he released three songs ‘Girlfriend, WeWe and Warning‘. ‘Girlfriend’ topped in all charts and had almost over 200 million streams on all digital streaming platforms.
In November 2022, he released other songs “Red Flags” and “Asiwaju”. Asiwaju emerged as number one for two months on Apple Music Nigeria, number three on the UK Afrobeats Singles Chart , and number 16 on the Us Afrobeat charts.
On February 2023, he was named Best New Artist at the Soundcity MVP Awards held at the Eko Convention Centre in Lagos.
