Bahati is a Kenyan gospel artist, a husband, and a father. He started singing in high school and came into the limelight after his hit songs, “Siku ya kwanza” and “Mama”. Bahati lived in the street for a while before rising as a music star.

Early Life

Bahati was born on December 22, 1994. His mother Lucy Mueni died when he was very young and his father married a second wife months after. Bahati and his step mom never gets along as the mom referred to him as a devil worshipper.

Bahati ran into the streets for a while before  deciding to go to the ABC orphanage in Mathare slums in order for him to have shelter and education.

He then attended Nakeel Boys in Kajiado after which he joined St. Theresa Boys in Eastleigh for his secondary education, and attained a mean grade of C+ in 2011. Information on whether he studied further are not known yet.

Bahati musical career dates back while in high school.

In 2010, he did a solo perfomance during the National Music Festival in Nakuru in which showed his potential and attracted a bit of attention.

In 2011, he represented his school, St. Theresa Boys High School in Eastleigh, where he sang and played the guitar and still caught attention. 

After completing high school, Bahati decided to venture fully into music. He met with J Blessing a music director and producer and released his first song ”Siku ya kwanza”. Later he did his second song ”mama” and it brought him fullyn into the lime light.

Relationships

Bahati was married to Vyette Obura but broke up due to unknown reasons. Together they had a daughter Mueni. The two are co parenting nicely an indication that co-parenting can really work.

He is currently married to Diana Marua an actress, content creator and a youtuber. They are blessed with 3kids namely Heaven, Majesty and Malaika. They also have adopted a son, Morgan.

Political Journey

In 2022, Bahati tried his luck in politics and vied for Mathare Mp sit. However he did not emerge the winner. He expressed his frustrations by crying and explained that his tears resembed the struggles mathare people are facing.

He also said that his votes were stolen.

He competed with Anthony Oluoch of ODM Party who emerged the winner and Billian Ojiwa of UDA who was the second runners up.

Awards &Recognitions

In 2014 he was awarded Groove Award winner for best male gospel vocalist. He was also nominated for best video of the year and best collaboration. 

 Same year,Bahati was voted the greatest gospel musician in Africa at the AFRIMMA awards, held at the Eisemann Center in Texas, USA.
