Early Life
Major Nameye Khadija well known by his acronym ”Mejja” was born in Majengo slums in Nyeri. He grew up in very humble background which motivated him to work hard in life.
He sold groundnuts after highschool to enable him put food at the table which failed and he resorted to hanging posters as his side hustle.
His parents separated at an early age and his mother Khadija raised him single handedly with his other siblings. Mejja has adopted his mother’s name as his sir name since she is the on who struggled to raise them without their father’s support.
Education
Mtoto wa khadija has studied upto secondary level. Whether he joined college or if he intends to join one is still not known.
Career
His musical career dates back while in primary school. Early in the days, he joined a clan called ”Ghetto Clan”. He used to sing with his brother Wambugu and since by then he had not written songs of his own, he sang using borrowed materials.
His breakthrough came when celtel company was conducting a talent search all over the country. Luckily, he emerged among the top three in his province and first runners up nationally. He was awarded Ksh 20,ooo.
Its during the national competition when he first came to Nairobi. He met with Clemo who nurtured him music wise and got him signed under Calif records.
In 2014, he teamed up with Kidkora and Madtraxx to form a band known as the Kansoul. Together, they dropped hit songs such as Nyongwa and Dabotap.
The group has been dormant for almost 8 months but Mejja has continually dropped solo hit and doing collabo with other artists.
In 2018, he dropped a hit ‘kwani jana kulienda aje‘ which was his breakthrough. The song made him receive an award at Kenya’s Chaguo la teeniz.
He is still releasing more hits capturing the attention of his fans world wide. If you want to identify Major, he always have a tumbler on his hands.
Family
Major was married to his ex-wife for 5 years before they separated. He suffered a major blow since he wasn’t expecting it to happen. He contemplated suicide at that moment. His music career suffered a blow since he couldn’t release hits for a while.
Their reason for divorce remains hidden. Thanks to God that he is still alive.
Relationships
After recovering from his divorce, he met with his current girlfriend. Together they are blessed with a son.
House & Cars
He lives in a palatial house located in Nairobi that is estimated to millions of money. His car collection includes a Toyota Land Cruiser and a Mercedes Benz.
